Have you seen her?

It's the 10th Anniversary of the WNBA!

The WNBA is 10 years old, how exciting. I remember going to the very first game of the WNBA in 1997: LA Sparks vs. Houston Comets. Go Sparks!

Now that we're in the Lone Star state, it's Go Comet's! That is unless they are playing the Sparks, then we try not to get killed while rooting for the Sparks.

So you can believe how disappointed we were yesterday on the 10th Anniversary opening game day.

We went to the Houston Comets game and they got spanked by the San Antonio Silver Stars. The final score was 63 - 79. Ouch!

Then we came home and caught the Los Angeles Sparks vs. Seattle Storm game on TV and LA got spanked 67 - 90. Double ouch!

At least the Comets game held what may be the season highlight for me ... as the Comet's starters were announced, they ran down the arena stairs next to where we sat and I got to give high fives to ... (drum roll please) Dawn Staley, Michelle Snow, and SHERYL SWOOOOOOOPES!

March 14, 2006

My mother died around 1:30 a.m. on March 14, 2006.

She was diagnosed on May 4, 2004 with Stage IV lung cancer with brain metastases and survived for almost two years. Longer than others with similar diagnoses.

My mom knew how lucky she was when Peter Jennings was diagnosed with lung cancer and died four months later.

After Carboplatin/Taxotere intravenous chemotherapy failed, Iressa gave my mom one good year where she was able to spend more time with us, visit her family in New York, go on a few cruises, gamble in the casinos, and play Mah Jong with friends.

Iressa even worked longer for her than for others probably because she's Chinese and studies have shown longer survival rates in Asians.

When Iressa stopped working her cancer progressed rapidly.

We were lucky and grateful that we got as much time with her as we did. I love my mom and I miss her.
